The Eye of a Little God

Six ordinary lives - Six extraordinary years: What can you hold on to when the world is going upside down?

£10.00

The novel describes the stories of six characters living on the south coast of England who are oblivious of the existence of the others. It is 2016 and the political landscape is just beginning to stray from convention: the British have voted for Brexit; Trump has been elected in America; Climate change is becoming more evident and, just around the corner, a pandemic awaits.

A wayward university lecturer targets his young female students. A thirteen-year-old girl is afflicted by a mysterious illness. A tattooist becomes obsessed with conspiracy theories. An unpublished novelist is haunted by her abusive husband who died unexpectedly. A retired vicar sends back his dog collar to the bishop. Lastly, a single parent struggles on welfare benefits with two children.

Over the years, each character meets the five others, sometimes in passing, sometimes becoming a major influence. We see how they develop and, when the pandemic arrives, they discover how strangers may make a significant impact on the lives of others.

In a world which is largely indifferent to the life of the individual, The Eye of a Little God, depicts the highs and lows of six very diverse characters and how chance brings them together and how their intuitive insight helps them make sense of their situations.
